Moss?

I wanted to stick moss home depot has on my living wall, is it dangerous? Or would it rot and die in a cham enclosure? I don't know a whole lot about it, but the idea was to have some siliconed around the wall and maybe have some hanging off a little ledge and whatever else. The kinds i'm talking about would be sheet, sphagnum, and peat. I grabbed some really cheap so it's not a big deal if i can't use them.

If this is a bad idea do you guys know any good plants that'd grow across the wall, cover stuff, and/or trail downward? Something with smaller leaves, i was thinking baby tears, but have never worked with them so i'm not sure how they grow or anything, but i still plan to give them a try. Also going to use pothos in the back to trail downwards like vines which shoild work out fine. Just wanted something smaller as well.

Anyway, any suggestions i'm open to. Just trying to map out how i want this to look currently, so i'm brainstorming :)

The moss from Home Depot or craft stores is dried and won't grow. It doesn't rot or break down very quickly, but it will eventually. Check out Josh's frogs plant and moss selection, they have an amazing variety and they'll give advice on what types of plant you should get for which type of animals and enclosures. I'm working with them on my dart frog viv build and they're wonderful!

Okay cool, is there any danger from a chameleon eating the moss? I'll have a panther so i know they're less likely to eat random stuff, but better to be safe. I can't imagine it'd be any different than the cham eating a piece of a non-toxic plant though?

Other than that, it doesn't seem like too much trouble to just pull it off when it starts to break down.

And i'm definitely going to check out joshs frogs, thanks for response!

I can't say for sure if it's safe for a panther, my project is for dart frogs. I would lean towards it being OK because a lot of vivs use it to cover the foam entirely instead of coco fiber or mixed with it but plan to alter it if you see your cham knawing on it or if it shows up in poops. It's probably better safe than sorry, I'd wait for a definite yes or no.

Some species of "moss" have small hard sharp spines and if the cham ate a big enough chunk of it could injure its intestinal tract. Or, it could snag other stomach contents and create a blockage. Watch the moss you use....if you see it being chewed on, remove it. The cham doesn't need to eat it.
