Okay so the breeder said he would probably sleep most of the day when he got here. Completely fine by me but I’m worrying cause he’s sleeping upside down idk. I know they will sleep all over tell he finds his spot but is this Normal and he keeps poking his head out of the wire ? What should I do ? Second picture has a pic of him trying ?

They aren't supposed to sleep during the day so keep an eye on that

Maybe he’s tired from shipping but after this day he shouldn’t sleep at day at all. Maybe he is sticking out his head because he wants out or maybe it’s nothing I cant say because I don’t know what your enclosure looks like. Please post some photos of your enclosure. How often you feed him and how often does he drinks. What lights are you using?

This is his enclosure he came in today I have a mister run for 3 times a day so he drinks from that and a dripper I put 15 crickets in he went to the feeder and ate 10 didn’t touch any milworms, heating bulb is a nature light that produces heat. The uvb is compact I’m waiting for the new 5.0 24 inch uvb to come in so I’m planning on taking him outside tell it arrives for 3 hours but not tell he’s less stressed and lights are out now he’s just sleeping upside down we’ll see what he’s like tomorrow , I also am adding plant to the bottom slowly and am growing vines to rap around the green bars

The bottom will be all floral plants just waiting for my local flower store to open and give me pots

You have a nice plan there but you need to get more plants and HORIZONTAL branches because he need to have some hiding spots and they usually sleep on horizontal branches because it’s easier than upside or upside down. Thats why he is sleeping like that. If you cant add more live plants at the moment at least add some fake leaves or something so he can have hiding spots. Then he will sleep more relaxed and normal probably on that vine in the back.

Give him time to settle in. Might take him a few nights to settle in. Here is a video about sleep and chameleons that you might find helpful.

Gingero, I really appreciate your videos. They really are perfect for those new to the hobby. Your hard work does not go unnoticed.

OP, Gingero is absolutely right. It will take time for him to settle in and feel comfy. You definitely need to add more branches going in every direction. Try to recreate the motif of a tree in nature for best results.

Also, what did you mean by only taking him outside when the lights are out? Are you implying that you will only be taking him outdoors after his lights turn off at the end of the night? Do you have him on a strict 12 hours lights on and 12 hours lights off schedule. Maybe you already know this, but NEVER try to handle you chameleon after lights out while he is sleeping or getting ready to sleep.

Lastly, please continue to ask for help, advice and guidance if you’re unsure about anything. Especially if this is your first chameleon! You will come learn that the experienced and dedicated owners here don’t just view chameleon husbandry as a hobby, but as a commitment.

I've never had a chameleon sleep during the day after shipment. That's not normal.

I ment during the day for uvb since I have a Compact uvb which I didn’t know was bad at first so my better uvb hood light is shipping to me once It’s in I won’t have to take him outside and my petsores around me like are legit out of branches so I used those green poles made out of plastic I’m getting a golden Pothos , and I can get something else I will rap the Pothos around those green poles to make them more natural will this help him feel safer

Just get branches from outside and tie them together with zip ties.
