Mister Twister has a bit of the wobblies! HELP!

The fact that he got out of the wrap suggests his leg was ready to be freed of it. There are times you just have to trust the animal.

Eating, drinking and having all four legs available....it's a good day in Mister's world!

Two days ago the update was good!

Things were great. Eating, drinking, pooing, moving around... pretty much back to normal.

Now he is all wobbly again! Started yesterday. Worse today.

What are the symptoms of calcium overdose? Is it possible that all the calcium he has been getting is going to heal the break and his other legs could soften because of it? That is how he is acting. Now he is weak in the other front leg and not using it right...

I'm so lost with this little guy...

Will get the camera and try videoing tomorrow?

What would make it so that he stopped processing calcium properly? Should I be giving him more D3 along with the extra calcium? And, I just changed his light when all this started but could it be a bad bulb and how do you test that?

I just sent you a PM. I couldn't remember whether you had a new bulb or not. There are UVB meters, it might be less expensive at this point, to simply replace the current bulb.

Is there a way to get video?

I hope this works. The video is gross. But so is watching the poor little guy. He is all bound up and back in the hospital bin now though.

Here we go again....

Video issues?

I don't know if I did that right.
But, if you right click and open the image in another tab, you can see the video. It is short but it shows enough I think. Poor little guy...

if i copy the link and paste it into a url bar, yes.

poor baby.
I dont know how to help.
but want you to know that hes in my prayers. I hope he getsbetter.

vet visit time again... :(

I think you should find a new vet or make get in touch with Dr. Alfonso and see if you can set up shipping him here to FL.

I was able to play the video. Poor Cham :(. I can not imagine why the vet is saying not MBD either. You need a new vet as JannB has said. I wish you two well but you need help and it is sad you are not able to get it even when doing the right thing.

I have him splinted just like the last time. His right front leg healed up very well in just a few weeks. How could one leg break heal while the other weakens? He still shows no softness in his jaw or casque either. But I did not take him back to the vet yet.

After spending so much on getting him treated and medicated and healed up from the last time, I am just as under-funded as I am overwhelmed...

Perhaps (if you haven't done this already) you should re-orient his cage so it's horizontal, pad the new "bottom" for awhile? As has been mentioned, it takes a long time to get a recovery going. You're giving liquid calcium, right?

Would your vet be open to consulting with Dr. Alfonso? That might be an option to shipping the chameleon at this stage.

liquid calcium daily.
He is back in his hospital bin so that he is trying to use his leg less. It is a plastic shoebox sized tote with a branch and foilage. (Back in the bin cuz I had repadded his viv with laundry but he was still having trouble getting around--fighting the wrap/splint. Will give him some time out of it when I can supervise him closely tomorrow, etc. Just trying to keep him quiet for the first day or so. Just like the last time... At least I have been through it before. Just didn't think I would have to do it again, especially so soon!

Like i told dad today your is having issues with his legs and being wobbly mine is almost 5 months and isnt growing or shedding! So I dont know what to do anymore!

Back to the vet...

Making the appointment in the morning. Hopefully we will get this all straightened out. I am convinced it is MBD.

I don't know how with all the supplements and lights and vet visits, etc. but it is MBD. We'll see what the vet says this time and it better fix him this time:mad:

Crayola, I think you should start your own thread. Include the information in the How To Ask for Help form. You'll get better, easier to understand information in a separate thread. We do want to help.

HolyToledo, I think you're right and I think you need to "go expert" on that vet and demand he give Mister the right treatment. Even with humans, patients need advocates. That's doubly true with animal patients.
