so every time i mist the cage after 1-2 min he just goes kinda fast to the bottom of the cage and tries to eat the soil from the plants ...did this happen to anyone else? is this normal or wiered ?

well from other posts ive seen peoples chams have done this for hydration, do you have a dripper running all day or anything like that or do u rely on misting only for hydration ? also how long are u misting for ?

not realy sure if anyones knows the answer to this but it is not for hydration that I know of. It is believed that your cham might be lacking nutrients and that is why he is eating the soil but that is just speculation also. I don't think anyone has ever done any type of research to back any of the ideas. Anyways, it would be best to cover up the soil. Either use screen or LARGE river rocks. Large enough that your chameleon cannot eat those either.

the reason i say hydration id that he heads right to the soil during misting ? seems like hes waiting for the soil to collect water so he can eat it to drink so to speak

he drinks water from leaves and from mister!ill cover the soil asap!i mist till i get 75 80% ,without misting i have 60% humid

That's weird. I wonder why he is doing this - can you give us a rundown of what his diet is like? Including gutload, feeders, and supplements. Sometimes they will eat soil as a way of getting minerals they are lacking, so I'd look at his diet first.

i give salad and carrots for criks, and oats, carrots, bread for meals! I only used zoomed reptiviteq with d3 twice, and i have reptolife plus and jbl microcalcium!he eats and drinks alot!

I covered my soil in the cage with large river rocks that are obviously to big and heavy for him to eat or move. Just a suggestion.
