Metacam and Chameleons

I took Tommy back to the vets today for his check up. Tommy still has movement in the leg/foot and the vet was encouraged by the fact that he still uses it ok when the adrenalin is flowing. Tommy really didn't like being palpated for any soreness, bless him, and swiftly legged it up to the vets shoulder to escape, lol! I was advised to double the dosage of Metacam (from 0.03ml upt to 0.06ml) every day and go back for a further checkup in a couple of weeks. On the plus side, Metacam must taste really nice as Tommy is always eager to eat his medicated locusts in the morning. Has anyone used Metacam on chameleons long term and noticed any side effects at all?

Hi Tiff, when I asked my vet about long term use I was told that theres very little info with chams but thought It could cause kidney damage I think. He said to keep Ceaser on it for 10days which should be long enough to see a difference then to use it again if he looked like he was suffering more with the pain, they can also get used to the drug if they have it too often so it wont be as effective.
