Met a Bosc Monitor Today!

Miss Lily

Chameleon Enthusiast
Sadly, he was a neglected rescue. Poor thing was handed it at the livefood shop just a few hours before I went in to buy locusts. The shop owner had him in her arms and his tongue kept flicking in and out, lol! Poor l'il man is really small and was kept in an aquarium with a heat mat, and as a result, had lost several toes, half a foot and half of his tail to burns. It makes my blood boil that people can keep things like that and not even notice that something was wrong!:mad::mad: Some people don't deserve to keep pets of any kind!

Anyways, I held him in my arms for a while and stroked under his l'il chin while he rested his head on my arm. He kept looking up at me and flicking his tongue at my hair to smell me, lol! He felt wonderful, but rather muscular - like a snake with legs! Only thing is .... I now wish I had room for one of those big guys too, lol!

Thats very sad Tiff, some of the larger monitors are just dog tame, wonderful pets.
heres hoping somebody rescues it to a better life.

Here here, Tiff. I hate that too. Actually the previous "owner" did know what was wrong, but chose not to do anything about it (hence, the dropping it off). The problem with these kinds of species is that people buy them on a whim because they are "cool" and then don't do what they need to to take care of them properly. I have a LARGE argus monitor and he needs LARGE housing and can eat you out of house and home, but I knew that going into it and I do what I have to to give him a good home and he is as healthy as an argus could be. I wish more people would do the same. :(

Just a little update on the bosc - I was in the reptile centre today buying more food for my two and I asked how he was doing. He is still alive and acting as if there is nothing wrong with him, despite missing half his tail, foot and a few toes. He's a little fighter, bless him!:D He is lovely and if I had the room I would take him in, but sadly I don't have space.
