I think the blog part of the forum might work for a version of this. It is public but not as heavily traveled as the main forum pages. Keeping the conversation A to be might hit a snag but worth a try.

The other possible place for these A-B conversations might be in the "Chameleon Genera" section under the appropriate genus. I always keep an eye on Trioceros for instance.
Either way all parties should agree in a PM and then move to the agreed forum or blog post.
