mealworms or crickets?

people here will help get you going perfect, we all love chams very much and dont mean to be to forward or harsh..
you are here asking whitch is GREAT!!

Stole the words out of my mouth! I don't expect you to get them immediately. So sorry if I came across harshly. I have been in the same boat, but you need to make changes to succed.

I just want to say NEVER trust a pet store person. I have never seen a person who was 100% right about any animal I have had.
Always look online before buying, I spent 100$ on bad lighting.

This is very true. I had gotten the approval for this set up from the pet store lady. Heck, I even went to another and they said it was okay until it got bigger. But yes, I guess I have a summer project now. :) Thank you all very much

To cut back on cost's you can even build your own cage.

While pet shops can be very helpful regarding certain species, chams are their own world. I bought my set up (not including live plants, and minus the cham price of 50 bucks) for 192 dollars. Then I spent another 30-40 bucks on fake and live plants. SInce my guy is still so small, I have him housed in a 2x1x2 ft zoomed mesh cage. In about 3-4 months, I will have to get/build him a large cage, roughly 3 by 2 by 4 for his adult size. As you also have a veiled, you will need similar settings. Be prepared to spend a few hundred bucks to set everything up. The most expensive thing is getting the habitat set up, not the lizard himself. Mine was only 50 bucks, but I spent a good 200 bucks on a cage and lights, and he will out grow his cage in probably 3 months, if that.
Do you know the gender of your baby? Taking care of them can be challenging, frustrating, irritating, smelly, but it can be fun, amazing, more entertaining than tv, and addicting!
Good luck and ask any and all questions here. No question is stupid

Side note- As he is so small, it would be best to start with a smaller cage, so that you don't lose him in the foliage and so that if for w/e reason he falls, he doesn't have as far to go. ALso, you need to know the gender, if you have a female, they can start laying eggs as early as six months, and dealing with that is another world all its own.

you said you dont supplement your cham?...what kind of cham did you have before bc i find it hard to believe that you had it for 3 years without supplementing it, or did you supplement your old cham? just curious

Jeez. What did your cham cost? My cage was 89 bucks. then the lights and feeders and the cham himself. Like I said, I have a small cage cuz I got my cham at 2 weeks old.

Well, you do have the perfect setup for a leopard gecko.. In order to keep that thing alive you have to buy a whole brand new setup. Take out the hide too, it is meant for a gecko.. did you base the enclosure off the pet store or what you imagined it to be?

Ive seen most pet stores selling these "pre-setup" aquariums for different eco-zone lizard/reptiles. He probably purchased the gecko or snake "starter" kit

If its too expensive for you just look around at other store or craigslist/ebay for a used one or sometimes you can find it cheaper on amazon.com too.
