Lots of updates

Well I have been missing for a bit again. After the move, work picked up like crazy and I broke my leg ugh. But the real update is I think Neptune's body may be failing him finally. I am currently running supportive care at the house since he doesn't look stable enough to survive a vet visit. But i am in contact with my vet and plan to hear from them later tonight in case there is anything that can be done. He is showing potential signs of kidney disease. I am not worried persay, just doing what I can because he still shows some sass and I don't want to give up too soon. But he is turning 14 this year. I don't expect there to be any advice from you guys, I just wanted to keep you updated

Thank you, I swear he runs off sheer anger and spite. And I will miss his sassy behavior no matter when he leaves us. But if he decides he is ready to go then I am ok with it. Most I will help him do then is make his journey a little easier. I will keep everyone updated

He is a veiled. And every day with him the last year has been celebration. We had a couple scares that required the vet. So i know no matter what happens this time, his age is wearing on him. He just hasn't hit that time where I KNOW he is ready. He is a stubborn old man

I'm sorry to hear about the downfall of health, but congratulations on keeping him healthy for 14 years! That speaks volumes about how much you loved him. I hope that you can find comfort in knowing you gave him an incredible life.

So we have made the decision that today will be the day I take Neptune in. He is not anymore stable, but made it through the night, passed stool and moved on his own. However he is still very stiff and so i think he is showing signs of late stage kidney failure. I am guessing its been happening for a month or so looking back at his symptoms, maybe a little longer, and considering my husbandry has not changed other than increasing his fluids and making sure he gets to food easier its likely just age related. I don't think he has any ability to come back from this since it looks like it has moved to high uric acid build up. I will make an official post in the rainbow bridge part of the forum when he is officially gone. He is stubborn enough that I think he would fight for several days to stay until he finally just couldn't anymore. I will still keep chameleons after him but I definitely feel like I will need a while to grieve before even looking at setting up the new enclosure. He has been with us for so long.
