Lost an African Dwarf Frog today :(

My female ADF Squab got sick while we were on vacation. Our sitter separated her into a bucket with daily water changes, and she hung in there for several days. I really thought she was rallying today - no more bloat, swimming normally, but still a little lethargic. I had hoped it was just gas but overnighted medicine for her just in case. I lost her just now after a rough day. I'm really heartbroken - she was my favorite frog.

RIP, little Squab. I'm sorry I couldn't save you.

Thanks. They really are such happy little creatures. It was so sad to see her not feeling well. Now my male Squib is alone

Aw no... I'm so sorry. I had a pair of ADF that I took in after some roommates left them behind. Sadly they both ended up getting sick and died very quickly about a year and half after they came into my care. Loved those little guys so much. Their faces are adorable and watching them eat was always cute.

Based on her symptoms, I'm pretty sure (but no where near positive) that it was dropsy. She didnt show any off symptoms before the swelling. I'm treating the male just in case, although it makes me nervous to do that with only guessing about the illness. I've had them about a year, and they are my first aquarium and frogs, both.

That stinks- I get sad when even the smallest creature in my care dies. Raise a glass in her honor (the chameleon perhaps?).
