Locust

My male cham is two years old now and I’m just checking how many you would feed yours at this age? Also is there any ways to cup feed them without them escaping? :)

-Thanks

Sadly, you can't contain locusts for cup feeding - their velcro-like feet make it impossible to keep them in anything! On the plus side they will climb upwards to the lights rather than hid under things on the floor like crickets and roaches! My adult boy would eat 2 extra large locusts every 2 or 3 days, but he was never a big eater. If you can get some to the final instar, they love them when they get their wings! :D When my chams got to adult stage they would be eating a small enough amount (like 2 or 3 a day) that I could just hand feed them the locusts. I don't like leaving food roaming in the viv unless it's contained in a cup. Locusts will nibble on the live plants but crickets may wel decide to take a bite out of the chameleon if left to wander around!

I never actually bought adult locusts - they always look so huge, but also you only get 5 in a tub, whereas you get 8 - 10 extra large in a tub for the same money. Chameleons never actually stop growing, hence why they still shed their skin as adults, but their growth rate sows right down. I would say that your boy won't get much bigger than what he is now.

my chams get 3 locust that are large every other day. They are the ones just before getting wings! They also get crickets morios and other woks about once or twice a week

Actually so far I've managed to successfully cup feed locusts medium locusts, I find removing their big legs at the back cuts down their ability to climb the smooth surface of the cup.
