well, the good news is, my diy cage will be here by next week :) and after i get everything set up and running, my cham will come! the bad news, my 12 year old brother had a seizure today in school. it was HORRIBLE! i worry for him :( its never happened before and he's very healthy...he went to the ER today, tomorrow he goes to the normal doc and the day after he goes to a neurologist..

Thats great about the good news!

And that sucks for your little brother. I have my fingers crossed for him.. I hope everything goes well

Amanda, just a bit of hope to hold on to...
The same thing happened to my bestfriend, we were competing in a softball tournie, it was horrible to watch, I agree.
the good news, after all the tests they never figured out why, she never had another. A very weird anomaly. She is now 54, 3 grown kids, and grandkids.
keep your hope up!, I will for you as well :)
Anne

Sorry to hear about that.

I find this sort of thing interesting though. I work with a lot of people from a lot of different walks of life and hear many stories of kids around that age developing seizures or neurological problems after getting a vaccine of some sort.

It's flu season and I'm just curious, did he get a shot recently?

thats horrible. i have a very mild neurological condition, where the arteries and capilaries in my head and neck a weak. Small changes in weather pressure causes my vescles to expand and contract, and i get serious migrane headaches, I am personally at risk of seizures but ive never had one and the chance is very low, unless the weather gos from a very low pressure to a very high pressure within 1 minute.

Sometimes seizures are a "once in a lifetime" event. More often they are "once in a very long time frame (like years)" event....While I know it was very scary, it's probably not a long term problem.

Has brother been sick at all? Kids (and at 12, he still gets to considered a kid) can have seizures from fevers...but, kids will often "work through" illness....they complain of illness when they don't want to go to school, but they ignore illness when something interesting is happening in a class.

he has not seemed like he has been sick, hasnt even asked to stay home :/

Your little brother must be terrified, I hope every thing is ok with him and that this never happens to him again, He is in my prayers.

But I am happy for you and your cham to be.

well, my mom called the neurologist for an appointment and she couldnt get him in until december and the doc would move the appointment up if she saw anything in his cat scan...well, needless to say, the appointment was moved till next Wednesday :(

That is awful. I am sure everyone is a mess worrying about him. Let us know how it goes. I sure hope it turns out to be minor.

Glad to hear you new cage is one its way.... but oh my how you must be worried about your brother. I hope they find out what has caused this and everything will work out for him

heres some pics of him
