lighting schedules

im trying t find out as much as i can before i get my chameleon i have got pretty much everything i think but when should my lights turn on and off and if theres any other tips and pointers which there proberbly is then please tell me and if theres any mistakes you made as you started out and how i can avoid them

lights on 6 am lights off 6 pm.
I follow the actual sun schedule.

depending on the room you house your cham in

for instance, if you can black out the window then you can run it anytime most people run it for 12 hours

but it wouldn't seem that unheard of to try to mimic the photoperiod of the region your species originates, it would be kind of tedious though , but i bet it would be one of those subtle things that may or may not help


i run mine 9 to 9 because its closer to the schedule that i live at

Thanks do you spray the cage when your lights turn on and when the lights turn off because i am not at home in the middle of the day would this be enough

just spray the latest an hour before the lights off.
you might want to invest in auto mister that can do the job for you.

run the 9-9 also. he doesnt seem to move at all before 9 regardless of if the lights were on. sometimes i think that 9 at night might be too late for him cuz the sun sets around 7ish but that should be running to 8-830 with summer coming up. everything is set up in my room and i usually have to be up around 9-945 so the setup actually helps me get up too, if that matters for ya too

i think ill probably o for the 6 till 6 because i can kinda use i is an alam clock because it will be in my bedroom and how should i auto mist the enclosure

Also consider that your cham might tell you when to turn the lights on and off.

I had a timed schedule for when my lights come on and off, but the first day I had my cham he picked a spot at 8 pm and fell asleep He also became active before my lights came on the next morning, he has completely dictated to me the lighting schedule.

Can you clarify your question about automisting? Are you asking how to do it or when to do it?

Promist is also good.

Plug in the mister into digital timer.
voila! auto mister

so you dont have to make an auto mister, good i thought it would be something id have to make (badly) and ruin something pheww lol thanks for your help
