Juvenile Chameleons in same cage?

I have two juvenile panther chameleons, a male and female (hopefully) that are both about 3 inches (not including tail). My question is first of all how long can they be kept in the same cage? And also, would it stress them to be put in a 2x2x4 foot cage? I've read that bigger is always better, but with all the other reptiles I keep, they become stressed if they're in too big a cage. Thanks for your input!

I would remove them now and start keeping separately. The male needs a minimum of a 2x2x4 cage but the female can have smaller although as you say bigger is always better.
