Juvenile chameleon too fat?

Hi I have a 5 month old vielded cham and i wanted to see if he looked too fat to any of you guys I feed him in the morning 30min-hour after lights go on and in the afternoon 3-4 hours before lights go out I feed him super worms, Dubias, crickets, hornworms, I feed him about 10-16 insects everyday but hornworms not that much I was told not to skip feedings cuz they are still growing and I understand that and wanted to see if it’s normal for him to be this big and he will get slim when he matures?

You are going to need to prepare a lay bin for when she is ready to lay her eggs. Is usually best to keep one as a permanent part of the enclosure so you don’t have to guess when needed. Having correct husbandry is very important to ensure she has no problems laying, so I suggest filling out the form provided so someone can review it and give you feedback.

It looks like you have a beautiful female and not a male. Looks to be around 6 months or older IMO. I would suggest filling out the help questionnaire. Females have different needs because they lay infertile eggs like chicken.

Egg laying takes a lot out of them and shortens their lives. You’ll want to try to reduce the frequency and/or clutch size by feeding less and keeping the basking temps cooler. Start reducing her feedings to every other day about 4-5 med sized feeders. After her first egg laying, she’ll be mature enough that you want to be feeding her only 3 times a week about 3-4 med sized feeders. This is a great article that may help explain it. http://raisingkittytheveiledchameleon.blogspot.com/2007/12/keeping-female-veiled.html
