Puzzled Vet Student - Tongue Issues?

Wondering if it could be a vitamin A issue. I’m not a vet…just have kept chameleons for many years and read constantly about chameleons (and many other critters). Doesn’t vitamin A affect the viscosity of the mucus?
How much vitamin A has the chameleon been getting and what form of vitamin A…prOformed or orEformed?

Thank you for your input. I did already consider that. Then I spoke with board certified DACZM zoo veterinarians and they felt he did not match the clinical picture no other signs except his tongue was getting stuck and he’s supplemented well. They said that if you see changed on the mucous membranes then you should see the other signs as well and said that tongue injury from using a plastic feeder bowl mixed with hx of NSHP was likely. I give him preformed vit A that’s in the Repashy Calcium Plus LoD and then I always gut load all insects with vegetables high in vit A such as carrots and sweet potatoes at least 48 hr in advance of feeding. I ended up weaning him this week as recommended above and he didn’t eat Wednesday which gave his tongue a break. Yesterday he didn’t miss any shots which was great :)
Thanks again!
