Hello,

Just wondering if anybody here has any experience with Japanese Maples in their chameleon cage(s). How well do they do in a pot? Has anybody had any problems or difficulties caring for them?

thanks

They do fine in a pot (excellent bonzai subjects) however they dont do so fine indoors.
No idea aboout possible toxidity.

I actually just bought an Emperor red Japanese maple (momiji) that I'm going to free range my 6 month old Cham with in the house. He seems to be loving it already and I dont see why with the proper lighting and drainage anything should go wrong. The tree is about 7-8 ft and gives him perfect perches to bask in. I'll post pics soon......... anybody have more info on this????

japanese maple is fine 4 chameleon.
But, i agree.. It might not be doing too well indoor.

Everywhere you read on the bonzai sites they say it is an outdoor only tree. We keep tree dwelling chameleons indoors and they thrive just fine, I think with propper lighting and potting, it would thrive just the same.

Beatkid,

I would love to see that 7-8' tree in your livingroom...:D
