So, I have a problem and I'm not sure what to do about it. Here's the situation: There is a screen cage with a Jackson Chameleon, an anole, and another unknown chameleon species down at a school garden that is a short walk from my apartment building. They are not mine, but you can go down there and into the garden when the caretakers/garden keepers are there and have the garden open. (Their is a large fence around the garden that has a lock on it). They say they spray down the screen cage with a hose once a day in the early morning. The cage has leaves, branches, dirt, and a few objects (toilet paper roll, piece of a styrofoam egg carton, etc.). Is this enough water for all day? I live in Hawaii, on the south side of Oahu, and it's typically 80 degrees in the day, 70s to high 60s at night. It doesn't rain much here either. They do not have a mister or dripper. I have been going in the evening, jumping the fence, and pouring water from a bottle over the lizards and leaves, because I am afraid the poor things are thirsty and once a day is not enough. Is it necessary for me to do this? Because it really sucks having to worry about them. What should I do? Or is once a day enough? Would they drink out of a shallow water bowl if I put one in there, because I heard they probably won't. Thanks for any input!
