Cage conundrum

Looking at getting either a veiled or panther. Will be my first chameleon, but I have had giant day geckos, house geckos, iguanas, anoles, grey tree frogs, Cuban tree frogs, red eyed tree frogs, and green tree frogs throughout my 51 years. My question lies in an enclosure for our house. Live in Wisconsin and have a woodburning fireplace for supplemental heating (during cold stretches especially). The problem with this is it dries the air quite a bit even with an April are whole house humidifier and a large 6 gallon room humidifier running and the temp can get up into the upper 70s in the room with the fireplace if we add too much wood while during the daytime without the fireplace running it is mid 60s -70F and down to 65 F at night. In the summer due to environmental allergies, the AC is often running at about 68-70F. So I am wondering what to do cage wise. I am a little weary about a full on screen enclosure (like a reptibreeze) with the temp swings and potentially very dry air. What do you all recommend in this case? All glass? Hybrid glass/screen, plastic with ventilation slots and fans, or something else?

Thanks!

I live in Wisconsin too

I’d say if you’re worried bout RH being low, opt for a hybrid cage, they do a much better job keeping ambient humidity up than screen cages.

The Dragonstrand hybrid PVC cage does great and is worth the price. My apartment dries out too when I run my heat yet I keep it within reccomended ranges for a veiled

Also consider how you’ll keep your night time temps within range/ how hot your ambient temps are at night when you are heating your home.
