is this healthy?!?!

I would like to know if the "un-natural" area of the shell is soft like a membrane. If so I would think it would leave them prone to injury.

I've never seen anything like it.
 
omg... that's a bit disturbing...
it's basically helmet-less turtles.

I'm guessing whoever purchased those might have to make some adjustments in their care..
 
$995 each! holy cow... and its a red eared slider! one of the turtles you can see in lakes around here O.O

quoted from their page "and [they] even bask quite a bit" .... well duh they dont have a shell and are losing the majority of their heat everytime they go into the water.
 
The ad is gone but im guessing they were deliberately mutated shell-less turtles?
If thats the case its more than sad, its plain wrong, much like the horrendously ugly and unfortunate scale=less adders ive seen people breed.
