Sleeping during the day is never a good thing, Chams should only sleep at night and awake in the day. would help if you filled in the questionnaire called "how to ask for help" in the health section of the forum and post it here :)

I have her in the basment her light are on but most of the time the others are off do yOu think I should move her were there's day light and mabe she won't think it's night time ?

If the chameleon is spotted like that all the time, it is stressed.
Naps are not a good thing and could also be related to stress.
You need to figure out the cause of the stress - can this lizard see other animals from where it is, or it's reflection in a mirror, or television, or ?

like other have said, sleeping during the day it not a good thing. but i do think being the basment may have something todo with it.
my one veiled using ques from the natual sun to decide when he sleeps.
if i have all the curatins closed he will stay asleep even with hid cage lights on. but as soon as the sun pokes through hes up...
its really different from all my others

if hes taking naps in the middle of the day, it could mean bad things about his health, resperatory infection, organ faliure, etc. Bring her to a vet. fill this form out for us so we can help you

I thought I would give you a little tip. Keep ALL of the lights in the room on. My Chameleon will think it's night if I don't leave my room light on during the day. He will get sleepy even though his cage lights are on. If that doesn't seem to fix the issue, I would take your Cham to the vet. I'm sure the more experienced forum members can help you with this. But turn the room light on or off when his cage lights go on or off. Especially if there are no windows where he/she is located. Good luck! :)

thanks yah thats just what i did in the basment we allways had the lights off expt hers so i moved her to my bed room right next to the window so hopfuly it helps :)

upate it seams like moving her from the basment to the bed room in front of a window is working now she is up all day that i seen thanks for your guys help:)

OH GOD

one of these again.

look she seems to be a graceful.

ive never kept these so i dont know what such a pattern would mean. it dosnt look like an "im sick" pattern it looks more like an im gravid. but i dont know for sure as ive never kept senegls or gracefuls. but she looks like a graceful to me. she might be prego. give her an egg laying bin.

in my experience putting a bucket with sand in fails, it needs to take up the entire bottom of her enclosure.

good luck. and seriously husbandry varies from species to species so if you dont know what you have thats a big issue. be on top of the game and know what you have. youy wont run into BS like this.

100% a Senegal and the pattern indicates "Low Stress" meaning it is moderately irritated by something. Every time I accidentally bump the cage or a door gets opened and a cool breeze goes through the room mine will display like this until the breeze goes away or the cage stops rocking.

she is definately a senegal.

Once again, it is NOT a Senegal Chameleon! It is a Graceful Chameleon. Please don't confuse the issue and the owner.

how can you tell? I don't doubt you're correct as I have never actually seen a Graceful in person but I am very curious how to tell them apart.

One the best experts on chameleons, Chris Anderson (whom we are fortunate to have as a board member) has identified it as a Graceful. Most of us think that means the question has been answered and doesn't need to be debated any more.

There is absolutely no question that your chameleon is a Graceful Chameleon (Chamaeleo gracilis). Anyone who has any knowledge of identifying chameleons would never mix a Senegal Chameleon (Chamaeleo senegalensis) with either a Graceful Chameleon (Chamaeleo gracilis) or Flap-necked Chameleon (Chamaeleo dilepis). The distinguishing characteristics between the C. senegalensis and these other two species are unmistakable. C. senegalensis has no occipital lobes and C. dilepis has larger occipital lobes and a more convex casque than C. gracilis.
