I saw a chameleon
on a tree in my backyard today, Orlando FL. Can it be there without care? Do you think it can be as naturally?
Thanks

I was replying you to the wrong place. Anyway. I will check it out tomorrow. Hope it is still. ThanksChams are not native to the new world. It was somebodys pet that ether was let go or got out. I do not know if it can survive all year.
I saw it on a death tree but it went to a green tree that the last time I saw it in the evening. I will check out tomorrow again. ThanksDefinitely an escaped pet. A panther of some sort. Looks dehydrated.
Thanks, let see if I can find it tomorrow. If you were further south I'd say he could survive all year, but in Orlando I highly doubt it. Try to catch him and bring him inside because he's not native, and is an escaped pet. Also, contact Dez on here - she's in the area and had an issue last year with stolen panthers (she's the owner of Chamalot Chameleons). Maybe he's one of hers?
there is one population that has only recently been completely wiped out, but it has survived for over 8 years. its true that some may not survive, but others do pull through sometimes. If you were further south I'd say he could survive all year, but in Orlando I highly doubt it. It’s probably fine. But it might have some parasites from being outside for too long. Also we get a lot less rain here so it’s also probably dehydrated.is the cham okay?
i know this is 4 years old, but i thought it was worth a shot. i have been looking to find wild chameleons in florida for a long time, and i heard there was a population in orlando.
