I noticed "Pickle"(Bearded Pygmy) in a hole yesterday!

:) It took me awhile to find them-for little girls they can dig deep!

The new ones are the 4 on the right...
The ones on the left are the 3 I cut out of a dead female a few weeks ago-in comparision I don't think they are any good now.

Congratulations! Do you know how long she was digging/laying? Did she dig in the moistest area of your set-up, or a drier area? Our tank has drier and moister areas and the book said that was OK. So, just curious. I would assume they dig in the moistest area, but don't know. About how deep did she dig? Sandy

Wow! Congratulations. Is breeding brevs a fairly hands off process? Do you know if they are gravid or do they just lay and you have to pray that you notice. I would like to breed them someday but luckily I got a temporalis and a bearded so I don't have to worry about that.

Good luck with them and sorry to hear about your other female.

I saw her in there for a few hours at least but went to work before she was done. I think all of my tank is of uniform moisture, and she dug down about 2 inches.

Yep-pretty hands off. I see the male chasing the female sometimes, but they are on their own.

They get very wide when gravid-so I think it was fairly obvious, and today she looked pretty skinny.

Oh ok, sounds pretty simple. I just have to be observant. Thanks!

Good luck with you babies. :D

For future reference, don't put new eggs in to incubate with older, established eggs. When the older clutch is ready to hatch, it also signals the newer eggs to sweat and if that new clutch isn't fully developed, you've got a pile of dead chams. Separate containers for each clutch from now on; even if it's just one egg.

In this case it's not a big deal as those eggs on the left don't look fertile so they'll just rot away on you. It's not too late to switch the newer eggs out just in case the first batch is good.

Good luck!

Thanks Trace-I will move them-but I agree the first ones don't look good. Great information-I appreciate it!

Congratulations Juli :)

Congratulations Juli! The eggs that were buried look great. What a good little girl. Trace's advise on the other eggs is good advise. Will keep my fingers crossed for adorable babies :)

hey i was wondering about the brev eggs. my questions are how long is incubation and at what temps to you keep them? i will be getting some in 2 months i want to have all my homework done. i am just adding to a notebook i have.

From what I have read-these are my first Brev eggs-60-90 days. I am incubating them in the top of my roll top desk along with 2 containers of Veiled eggs. Temps stay around 72-74 degrees in there.
