I have a few concerns!

Champeleons

No matter how prepared you think you are, things come up that tou dont have an answer to.
1) My biggest concern is a lack of poop. Zeus finally had a BIG healthy poop yesterday, but as far as i can tell, Hera has yet to poop in yer cage, & i have had them since Monday!
2)Zeus shed yesterday. He is only 4.5 months old, is it normal for that young? Or is it a sign of not enough humidity or maybe the stress of travelling here?
3)Even though i have searched relentlessly for crickets every night b4 bed, i saw 1 in Zeus's cage this morn, is there any easy way to tell if it bit him overnight?
4)I am going to the reptile show today, need to buy a humitity gauge, repcal w/o D3, hopefully find some future vendors to do business with, this last statement wasnt a concern, just thought i would add it since i was already typing;)

I can answer the shedding question for you and that is yes, they shed that young and that is perfectly normal. They shed probably every 3 -4 weeks at that age but don't freak if they don't cause they will shed when they are ready I have learned. The older they get the less they will shed and I just found out for myself they shed in stages when they get older. Mine shed his front legs a few days ago and now the back legs are shedding.

Concerning the insects biting the chameleons...if you put a small lid of food in the bottom of the cage (greens, veggies) then you provide the crickets with something to eat and they won't be so likely to nibble the chameleon.

Hi ty for the responses. Although no one had commented on the lack of poop, i will update that! Hera had a BIG poop, & Zeus pooped again, so that was 2 days in a row!:D It was a huge relief(so them as well, i am sure:p)

Is the female eating yet? Sometimes they don't eat in the beginning when they are getting used to their surroundings. If she is eating and has not pooped since Monday then maybe she could have an impaction of some sort. Not saying thats what it is but maybe a possibility. My 4.5 panther pooped everyday at that age and now it is about every 2 days or so. Hopefully everything is ok! Are you sure you did not miss the poop hiding in the leaves or branches or something?. I thought my cham had not gone for days either once and then I saw a poop that was tiny and shriveled up and then I was relieved. Check the cage real good. It dries up pretty quickly. It is possible she went. Do you have any type of substrate in the bottom of your cage that she could have eaten?

oops! Did not read the last post!!! so glad that she went!!!!! Never so glad to see poop right? lol!!!!

Well, since they both pooped everything is fine on that front.

It is absolutely normal for young reptiles to shed. It means they're growing. And they'll shed at least once a month every month for about a year or so. Then it'll slow down. But shedding is completely normal, and necesary for their growth and development.

As far as the biting, honestly, I don't even worry about it. It's a very small risk, in my opinion, and if a small cricket decides to bite your cham on the tail or something, it's not going to be a severe injury. It's probably like a tiny nick, and not worth worrying about. They're probably in more danger of getting scrapes from their branches than getting bitten by a single rogue cricket.

Don't you love those "new parent" concerns? lol We've all been there!
