hey everyone :)

just wanted to know if its normal for a cham to huff?

my little boys never stressed or puffs up and loves coming out his home but sometimes when hes walking on me from 1 hand to the other or when hes sitting on my head it sounds like hes puffing out air?

its sounds like a little huff? is this normal?

yeah dont worry ive read all the signs of respiratory problems ages ago before i purchased him and this does not sound related.just wondered if it was normal thats all guys as i havent come across this before.it makes me laugh everytime he does it.theres no wheezing or sniffing etc.hes perfectly healthy.
thanks for your replys :)

My veild does the same thing. he gets all excited to come out and huff and puffs well "running" to get on my hand

My cham does this, but to me it seems to be his way of telling us he's annoyed. Like, "leave me alone already!". I know you say your cham does not get stressed, but in my opinion it is a sign that the cham is at least a little annoyed/unhappy/stressed.

i doubt hes saying leave me alone when hes scratching to come out onto me.i never take him out on my own accord.i would notice signs of stress if he showed them but he doesnt, but who knows??
hes always a lovely colour, never dark only when basking,no hissing, gaping or puffing up.i dont always get him out when he asks so maybe hes annoyed that i made him wait lol.he doesnt do it everytime just sometimes.

Well every cham personality is different, but that is the only sign my cham gives that he's stressed. He (oddly) turns his most beautiful bright colors when we handle him and also never gapes or hisses at us. He's a very passive cham. The reason I know his little huffs are a stress sign is that they always came after we gave him his eye medicine (which he hated). And they often come after his showers in the bathroom which he also does not enjoy. Again, your cham is different and may do it for another reason. It's also possible that I'm misinterpreting my cham, but I doubt it! Either way it is normal and as long as you know the warning signs for URI, you have nothing to worry about with a little huffing from time to time.

*Now when my husband or I are annoyed about something we "huff" about it too! :D

sometimes he wants to climb on top of my head and keeps reaching for it and i dont let him.he has huffed at that so maybe he just huffs when he cant get his own way.only reason i can think of really.he has done it when im trying to put him back too and he doesnt want too.hes only done it 3 times in the 2 weeks ive had him.

I am no expert, but from whatching my veild it seem to occur when he's "excited" about somthing ( moving fast to get some where ). I've seen him mad before and it looks very different.

My boy's huffed since day one. Its tough to figure out exactly why he does it cause like you said he jumps on out of the cage but then there's always a huff in between him getting on my hand and then placing him on the free range. There were times where I'd hear him huff from the cage but that's definitely more uncommon. Huffing usually occurs when handling for me. Also could be a genetic thing cause I have talked to other people that have gotten chameleons from the same sir as I did and they have said their chameleons huff too.
