Hello,
I got the medium size phoenix worms but I have no idea how much I should feed my 3.5 months old veiled cham.
On the other hand, are those substrates (come with the package) eatable? Do I have to "clean" the phoenix worm before I give it to my cham?
Thank you in advance.
I too just got phoenix worms. I thought the bran stuff was food for the worms. i also beileve that they can live in that cup they come in for a few weeks. Correct me if im wrong.
Thank you for your quick response camimom. I just fed my cham 4 and he loved them!!!![]()
I have crickets as staple food. 1 Silkworm per day, 1-2 horned worm per week. And now I have phoenix worm (it's hard to get in Canada). I think Kiwi (my cham) should be satisfied now.
PS Oh, two more replies while I was typing. Thank you guys.
Thanks for the advance. Horned worm is the treat to Kiwi.
I fed horned worm with dandelion leaf and collard green to keep it alive.
I just feed silkworm chow I bought and made from mulberry farms.
And my guys love the hornworms.
Are wax worms the same as phoenix worms? I'm confused they look alike
thank you i feed mine wax worm may 1 or 2 every other week
The bran in the phoenix worm container is just a substrate I dont believe they eat it, this is the same with wax worms as unless you have a honey bee colonly as they eat the honey from the colonly. Phoenix worms are the lavae of the black soldier fly and have amazing amounts of calcium in them. I never really used them as they are two small for some of my animals
i pick out however many im going to feed. I put them in a cup with a few grains of raw rice. shake shake shake and all the substrait falls off then i pick the worms out with a chopstick. (the substrait looks like moist saw-dust)
