How do you give water to your chameleon?

So my 4 month old Jackson Chameleon, Tricky, is doing great in my opinion. He's getting more and more used to me. Recently started taking food out of my hand, and is beginning to walk onto my hand to get some food. I think eventually he'll be totally fine with just sitting on my shoulder for a while to go outside when the weather is right. :) :D The only thing that isn't really working out right now is the my croton plant which is dying. I need to get a new one tomorrow, because a leaf actually fell while he was on it. Thankfully he caught a branch with his tail. He's a great climber. He's also been more cautious with the leaves. So it seems fine.

But the question I have is regarding drinking. I used a dripper before and still do sometimes but I noticed he didn't really use it all the time, and it just made the substrate (paper towels) wet and way too damp, much faster when he wasn't really using it. Instead, I am just spraying the enclosure heavily, or misting it for a while several times a day. I notice he goes on the leaves and licks the water off of them, and will try to take the water straight from the spray bottle. I just checked and even giving him water this way, his urates are still white so he's obviously hydrated and doing fine with this method of drinking. But I noticed when he does take it from the bottle, he seems to have a hard time actually getting the water droplets.

Since he is used to seeing my face and hand right next to him now (for the most part), do you think it'd be okay to try having him drink water dripping from my finger? Has anyone else tried this?

if im not mistaken croton have some sort of toxicity so if your going to buy a new one might want to switch plants about especially if he happens to chew on plants.

secondly a drainage system and a bare bottom might be a good idea instead of dealing with tons of soggy paper towel.

Lastly theres plenty of people who offer there chams with drippers

He does not really have any vegetation, but yes I am actually probably going to get a schefflera plant, that's what I meant by "new one," rather than a new croton.

Yes that is a good idea and I thought of that as well, with a drainage system.

I am sure other people use drippers, I was curious if people let their chameleon(s) drink from their finger if it was dripping water.

try this ??

cute little guy you have :) I also had a water issue - this is how I solved it - maybe it will help you too :) I put a deli cup with a screen lid in - but you have to place it under a plant that the water drips on - mine drips onto the plant, and cascades down, and catches in the deli cup - use the same size deli - it will not overflow that way - and you can kinda hide it in the plants - I still mist , just to keep it humid when needed - but this way she can drink when ever she wants :) you can see her on it in the pic - I love my viv/s - I dont know how the pros keep theirs from getting to wet, but this is easy, fast, and keeps it dry :D
