How do you give water to your chameleon?
So my 4 month old Jackson Chameleon, Tricky, is doing great in my opinion. He's getting more and more used to me. Recently started taking food out of my hand, and is beginning to walk onto my hand to get some food. I think eventually he'll be totally fine with just sitting on my shoulder for a while to go outside when the weather is right.
The only thing that isn't really working out right now is the my croton plant which is dying. I need to get a new one tomorrow, because a leaf actually fell while he was on it. Thankfully he caught a branch with his tail. He's a great climber. He's also been more cautious with the leaves. So it seems fine.
But the question I have is regarding drinking. I used a dripper before and still do sometimes but I noticed he didn't really use it all the time, and it just made the substrate (paper towels) wet and way too damp, much faster when he wasn't really using it. Instead, I am just spraying the enclosure heavily, or misting it for a while several times a day. I notice he goes on the leaves and licks the water off of them, and will try to take the water straight from the spray bottle. I just checked and even giving him water this way, his urates are still white so he's obviously hydrated and doing fine with this method of drinking. But I noticed when he does take it from the bottle, he seems to have a hard time actually getting the water droplets.
Since he is used to seeing my face and hand right next to him now (for the most part), do you think it'd be okay to try having him drink water dripping from my finger? Has anyone else tried this?
