hornworm issues

hi! I am attempting to breed hornworms for my Veiled Cham as well as my Beardie and 2 Leos. It is my 1st attempt and I have searched the threads and found TONS of helpful info that I will be sure to take advantage of on my next round. My issue is that I had read to remove the "wanderers" from the container and wrap them loosely in tissues or paper towels for them to pupate. When I checked on them 2 days later they had all eaten out of the towels, excreted a lot of their body fluid (which i understand is normal) and were now laying in the shoebox. Is it too late to put them in Peat Moss?? They are not active enough to burrow anymore :( Did I botch this beyond repair?!? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Mine will burrow then come out and wander more. I just put them back in the dirt and they eventually stay in. You can check out my blog in my signature for my methods.
