Help! Cleo ate perlite? Or fertilizer??

OP you are fine, waxworms are a nice treat for a couple times a month, but I wouldn't let it worry you right now. Your cham will be fine.

Fat is a good source of energy, that's why animals love fatty foods. If you have to rely on them for the time being just feed a few. One gram of fat is more than double the calories of 1 gram of protein, so a little goes a long way.

Nothing wrong with a greasy burger, that's the thinking of the past. Simple carbohydrates are the real garbage. Fries are carbs(and fat if made in oil), burger is protein/fat
It's been going on for a while though. It is greasy burgers on greasy burgers. Along with the meal worms. They are un-arguably one of the two worst feeders. The cham is getting used to all this fat.

Blue bottle fly larvae. I will be feeding him both the larvae and the adult flies once the larvae pupate and mature. Ill also be ordering hornworms, silkworms, and super worms next

Don't feed the larvae, they produce ammonia and feed on rotten meat. Not sure how much of an issue that could be, but better off just feeding the flies.

I wouldn't say they are un-arguably some of the worst. Everything has a place. The only thing that would be the worst would be something toxic IMO. Sure, probably not ideal staples, but won't make a big difference temporarily. Just feed less of them, the cham can be readjusted to protein rich foods once they have more options.

An update in case anyone is interested: Cleo passed the perlite just fine. Luckily it was a small piece and I will be taking preventative measures from now on

And yes, I did have to mush the poop up to make sure o_O
