heeelpppp!

....but make sure your primary supplement is a calcium withOUT D3.... there are some posts/threads specifically on supplements if you have a min to search...will give you a good run down of recommendations. :)

Yes, i completely agree with jandie here.

OKAY! thanks guys :D !! im going to petsmart again tomorrroww. if she keeps on sleeping what should i do? i start school again on tuesday and i dnt want her to be lonley all day :/

It's a San Diego festival....I'm here too!

For a feeder cup, you can really use anything that's plastic and not transparent (because the chameleon will try to shoot through the cup if it's see through). My chameleon is small, so I work on a small scale. I have a small plastic milk bottle. I cut away one side to be the "opening" punched holes all over the other side for drainage and hung it about 6 inches from the top.

Normally I would say that if you keep your house comfortable for you, it's warm enough for your chameleon. However, there are two factors. It's been really cold by our standards all week (and tonight is the worst so far, I think) and you are concerned about your chameleon's health at the moment. That says the chameleon should probably be kept a bit warmer. If you can make sure she's in a room that's above 60 degrees...even up to 70 degrees, even at night, it would probably be helpful for her.

Can you put her in a bathroom? Lots of people have small plug in heaters in their bathrooms. Maybe you could warm a bathroom up and put her in it? Seal it up as well as you can. (towel along the bottom of the door, towels in any window)

One problem about San Diego having such great weather is our houses are not well insulated at all. They leak heat like sieves.

By the way, I'm just on the other side of 52 from you in Tierrasanta.

im over in chula vista :( i actually want to take her to a vet. but somewhere not so expensive. because if thheir is somthing wrong with her i want her to be okay. do u guys recoommend anywhere good? or should i not worry so much? yes it has been cold latly. but my room is pretty warm. also im going to being the cupfeeding thing because im worried about her diet.

awww....awesome! we're pretty much right off of 52 and mast....so definitely close! :)

is there anyone else at home to check on her during the day?

if you have the money, you could do a vet visit, but to be honest, they are probably going to tell you to fix all of the "husbandry" issues first and see if there's an improvement.... so i would give it a few days with some of the changes before you worry toooooo much... if she still has a good grip, isn't falling...IS moving around the cage and doesn't sound "wheezy" in general (not when she hisses but just breathing), then some of these things may fix it.... i know it's hard not to worry and freak out though..... but you're doing a great thing by being on here and asking questions and trying to do what's best for her. :)

I'm Chula Vista also. I live right off of Olympic parkway. ...Keep us updated on the progress of your baby. feel free to message anytime, if i can be of any help.

she still has good grip, she only walks around the top though. i move her so she can walk around on the vines and branches but she always goes back to the top. my grammy is here so ill ask her to keep an eye on her. i dont want to just waste my money so ill go when i KNOW somthings wrong. hopefully she will be okay :)

Yeah, take the first step changing what you can. If the problems persist with your cham, then we can escalate to the vet visit.;)

I'm sorry...someone said Santee and I thought it was you....

I haven't used them, but there is an exotics specialist in Mission Valley that many other vets refer to.

http://drexotic.com/

Avian & Exotic Animal Hospital 2317,Hotel Circle South Suite C

San Diego,California 92108-3310

Telephone (619) 260-1412
Fax (619) 260-1499

Also, any vet should be able to do a fecal exam for parasites. That's not unlikely.

Have you contacted the store that sold her to you? They should be able to point you to a vet that can be helpful.

If you feel that your room is warm and cozy, then it's probably okay for her.

it was me in santee! =)

i think avian was about the same price as ours....i checked around, but that would be closer for you....ours has a lot of benefits like military discount and bascially a "drop off" option at times without an appt....where they will see them as able....

there's also one near grossmont center...can't remember the name right offhand though....

If she's closing her eyes, it could be the coil bulb. Even though the newer ones are supposedly ok now, there were issues with older ones harming chams eyes to the point of blindness. I personally can't stand coil bulbs of any sort because they give me a headache, so I can only imagine how blinding they are to a tiny baby chameleon. I would get a linear florescent Repti-sun and a fixture from Walmart.

If you are using the plastic circular temperature/humidity gauges that petstores sell, they are not accurate. Get a digital thermometer that has a humidity gauge from Lowe's. They sell one with a probe so you can put the probe under the basking light and measure top and bottom of the cage at the same time. Once you know what your actual temp and humidity levels are, then you can adjust them properly. :)

This is the one I use: http://www.lowes.com/pd_21243-53921...e&pl=1&currentURL=/pl__0__s?Ntt=humidty+gauge

Yeah, I was looking for the info Elizadolots just posted. (i did not have it readily available to share). ---Also,...i have the impression Rain bought the cham in a BIG BOX PET STORE. ...Not much help there obviously.;)

our experience...... even the reptile stores quite often sell a lot of stuff that isn't necessarily "best"....not the "worst" but not the best either.... i was in one today and absolutely amazed at how stressed the chams were.... and we've purchased there before..... but example: the big cage right off the bat.... granted you won't need an "upgrade" necessarily, but sometimes, it's better to start off with a smaller one and upgrade once vs. something entirely too big.... i've also seen several poor "housing" setups in some of the stores, with males in with females and all sorts of stuff.... even places i "respect".... i think some of the employees have good hearts and try to be knowledgeable, but there's soooo many different types of reptiles, it's limited for each type....

i bought my baby from um.. a store called "south bay tropical marine"
they only have reptiles. they seemed decent :) well im new so idk what GOOD would be. i do have a plastic thermometer thingy, soim going to buy a new one. ALSO whats this about females laying eggss!? does EVERY female have to go throught this? do they have to mate first? or its just natural?

Agreed.

lol...egg laying....whole other issue. and LOTS of good information on here about all of that....especially posts from "jannb", "laurie" and some other forum members... so i would check into those at some point....females are the tricky ones. ;) and to answer your question, that can happen with or without mating...

i've not been into that store...think i saw it on a google search one time, but didn't realize there was a store..... and not sure how their prices are in comparison to some of the others as far as supplies go....

but definitely use the forum as a resource and keep us update on how she's doing... she's a pretty little girl!! =)

I know the place! ...and i know who they get their chams from. they have more than just reptiles, but maybe your focus was on the reptiles to begin with.;) ....there are only 2 people in there that actually know about chams,.... the rest of them will only try to make a sale.
But don't worry, we'll help you out!:)
