Heat mats

Hi I'm new and this is my first post. I've read a couple of times that you shouldn't use a heat mat, is this correct?

Yes. Chameleons will almost never go to the ground unless they have to or are forced too. They would not utilize this type of equipment. Past a certain age a basking bulb can be provided for a spot for them to heat up at. This can be accomplished with a incadescent bulb and a dome reflector. The distance between the branches, wattage of the bulb, size of the reflector, will all play a role in achieving the proper basking zone safely.
