sooo ima start making a planter base, and came across these when researching for a soil mix to plant a ficus or shefferla into. the planter will be 24wx24Lx15ish D with 1 door that folds down for easier access for maintenence.

biggest reason for the planter and substrate is for egg laying purposes.

I'd like to go full bio active substrate, eventually..... I'd take any recommendations or tips for that

image included for basic idea.

I've done bag gardening... not this brand but have used bags. the idea is the bag sits in a small amount of water and the roots "air prune" instead of getting root bound in a plastic pot. Had great luck with vegetable plants but never grew perennials in them. For bigger items I use the Walmart reusable shopping bags. They are $.50 each. If you want to see what they do for gardening, there is a Facebook group called Rain Gutter Grow System.
