im just confused on why your getting a full setup now. Save your money while you reasearch. Save you money so you know you will have money for vet bills, for food, for proper care, for a proper setup. Chameleons are not cheap, and although you might really want one, from what i have read you really are not ready to keep one. Your income is very low to what it should be to keep a cham, you rushed into it at first and im assuming you did hardly any reasearch, so untill you have spent hours upon hours doing reasearch and feel that you can give someone a responce to any question they have about chameleons, i think you should just hold off for a while.

In defense of our member Syn, I see her as someone who truly cares for her animals and is knowledgeable and responsible, especially for being a young adult. Sometimes there has to be an argument when you are dealing with less immature and irresponsible members such as Chameleonrave. She is just trying to do what's best for the chameleons. After all, isn't that what we are all here for? Bottom line people: If you cannot afford a chameleon and give it the proper care, which includes taking it to the vet when it needs to, then don't buy a chameleon. Case closed!!!!

As for chameleonrave have you looked into hamsters? I had one when I was 13 they're pretty cool if you're into that stuff. Being a broken record, chameleon = $$$$/time/dedication.

Its obvious that syn love her animals and is very responsible for them, Ive never said that she wasnt.
She takes very good care of them and from what Ive seen she even breeds some of them and has healthy babies, and that takes some on responsible to do, let alone a teenager.
Just the way they argue weekly and call each other out all the time, its childish.

He shouldnt get another because he couldn't afford the last one and that was like a week ago BUT its over kill to say that hes a troll and you dont believe that darwin ever got to the vet and hes making it all up that his friend took him, because in the farwell Darwin thread you called him out on it too, not in so many words but you did.

ChameleonRave, you shouldn't have posted this thread, you should have known people would be upset but im half glad because now were here to help talk you out of it.
You shouldnt purchase another chameleon if you couldnt afford to take care of darwin, the setup is only half of what you need for a happy healthy chameleon. You would need back up vet money and food for a variety of feeders. I feel you should wait untill your family is back on its feet and has a stable source of income that can support your family and have extra left over to take your pet to the vet if need be.
Just put the set up in the closet for now, thank your mom, and wait.

Zac, everything that was needed to be said, was said. Many of us have been very skeptical about you. Some of us feel that their are lies coming out of you. When you first joined, i was a bit harsh. Then i gave you a chance. You told me you got a screen cage and all the supplies for Darwin....but in the end..you really didn't get anything. So you ruined my trust for you. Im sorry but i just don't believe you anymore. If you don't like what anyone is saying, well that's up to you. You don't always hear what you would like to.

I am around the same age as you. If not the same age. If i can do it, im sure you can to. You just need to step it up a bit and talk to your mom without her just ignoring everything you say. Sorry if that's not possible.

Now, when you gave Darwin away i was upset. I was upset because i knew you were going to get a Jackson's. I have seen your comments with Jungle Jewels on Facebook and kept my distance. But you gave Darwin away to get a Jackson? What happened with Delilah? I could never have gave Clea away for another chameleon.

I'm sorry if you don't like what i hear but you should take it in.

Whether you get a new chameleon or not I really couldnt care less. My concern would be with what species you have chose. Mt. Meru Jacksons are not a species for someone to begin with or even someone that has some experience. They can come in in terrible shape and even healthy looking ones do not make it.

There are lots of things I want( a horse), and even at my age I realize I don't have the time and money to take care of them. I can't even imagine having started the chameleon hobby any sooner than I did. There is no way I could have done it as a teen, or when my kids were younger. There are far better pets for people who have limited resources. The rodent suggestion was very smart, as they do not get sick all that often and at best a Vet trip would not be classified as "exotic". They are also cheaper to feed and less time consuming.
I also think there are many passionate people here that are discusted that people see reptiles as a disposable pet. Many people have the mentality that it is cheaper to let one die and get another one rather than take on the expense of a Vet and treatment. I see that in parents of children that decide they want one. Some parents won't take the time to understand what they and the child have gotten into, and this is where we see animals decline because they do not have the proper set up in the first place. This seems to be what happened to ChameleonRave, and it is unfortunate that his parent, if this is what happened, decided it would be OK for him to get another one. It is also ChamelonRave's responsibility, since he is old enough to be on this forum, communicate, and learn to discuss all of this with his parent if he is dependent on that parent for money.
Cain is right-DO NOT START WITH A JACKSON. It is just asking for trouble.

being a parent, animal owner, etc is not easy when it is done right. As a mother it is not fun to say "no" to your child but that is what responsibility is, not easy. You need to say no to your mom, unfortunately it sounds like perhaps you need to be the responsible party in this relationship. You have many years in your future to have what ever pets you want, I did not get my first cham until I was in my 40: (yea I know I am an old fart). I am enjoying them a great deal, I am not rich but I am in a position to afford them appropriate homes. What ever direction you go I wish you lots of joy, and a good birthday -personally I love a good book or gift card for a birthday present.

My point is not to be childish but to try to get him to realize the mistakes he is making. Eventually he will realize unless he is a troll. No, it's not overkill to say he is a troll because there are many of them on the internet -- believe it or not!

By the by, referring to the previous thread from him about giving his chameleon away - if indeed his friend has it, and they have no access to the internet - what's to say they are getting the right information for Darwin? I don't think it was a good idea just to push Darwin off like that. As a matter of fact, if he isn't dead, who is to say he won't be? I don't know, there isn't a lot of proof offered for anything.

However thank you for "agreeing" with my opinion.
