Well I guess it's vet time again what the h****
This is more of a venting than a asking for help
So I was sitting on my couch watching tv when I noticed my Cham squirming (not sleeping) so of course I look over and notice him put his head straight up and exhale a large amount of bubbly mucus :( ugh seriously worst BDAY in the world today!!
So I've already taken all the pre steps raised night time temps etc.
Shameful plug anyone that could donate towards vet costs that would be greatly appreciated as I'm currently flat broke :(

Make sure that your vet does a culture and sensitivity test to treat your Cham with the correct antibiotic. Are you keeping him in a dark room to sleep at night? I noticed you said by the tv. Also is the cage drying out completely in between mistings and could he be in a draft?

Thanks jann yeah we did all that culture stuff last time and ended up using baytril nebulization treatments that cleared it up very quickly
Yeah he's in the living room but his cage is far enough in the corner and the way the tv is positioned his cage stays dark
And as for the misting part he's been free ranging a lot so ?? He goes in and out of his cage as he pleases except now he's going to be staying in there with elevated temps he's not going to be a happy boy about that but yes his cage dries out completely between misting

What I'm wondering can they catch a cold from humans cause his best buddy my 3 yr old seems to be coming down with a little something today as well and he's always coming down and hanging out on her shoulder on his own free will all the time so maybe that's something to do with it??
He's also not showing any signs this morning either so maybe he ate a bad bug yesterday?
Any case I'm going to keep his temps elevated over the next couple days until Monday and see how it goes :/

Hi there, I would re evaluate the chameleons living conditions. How do you offer water and techniques used to deliver water (do you ever spray directly in the mouth, do you mist the chameleon constantly for long periods, mist the cage at night, force any fluids or food? Your chameleon can withstand 50's ambient temps easily but if that is combined with a cold draft from a window, fan, outside door or anything able to cause a draft. The ambient + draft = temp drastically change. What are the humidity levels? Do you have good drainage (any standing water)?

I dont believe a chameleon can catch a human cold.

Good luck.

Uh?? Really?
It has a DIY misting system similar to a mist king it mists for 4 minutes every 3 hours and my Cham has his favorite leaf he drinks from almost every time it mists no force feeding or water. And no misting at night never have cage starts to dry out 2 hours before lights out. No draft!
No standing water cage automatically drains humidity during the day stays between 60 and 75%

You need advice period..You are clearly doing something wrong otherwise the chameleon would not have a repeat issue PERIOD. If you arent looking for advice try a blog buddy..Also, if you are looking for money..Instead of sitting in front of a computer get a second job.

Ok man! It's not that I'm not looking for advice my cages is insanely clean all steps have been taken to make sure his environment is top notch as of today there are no signs of the RI nothing's has changed and he's been just fine doing great there has been nothing in his environment that has changed to cause to stress or get sick that's why I asked the possibility of gaining a cold from my daughter I also don't feel that by either of your previous posts you were giving any type of advice so if ya want to be a forum warrior and bash and be negative take it else where besides this thread! Thank you!

Also talked to Bruce and the vet and they both concur it is probably an underlying infection from the last one that didn't get completely taken out by the baytril last time

Well I took in a swab and a poop to the vet today so we'll know more Monday but he just chowed down and there were no signs of any mucus so crossed fingers for now is all we can do

Hang in there. Our chams are just like kids. It stresses us to no end when we have things "Dialed In" and they still acquire an illness.

Yeah for sure it's definitely just like having another kid but also just like one of my kids I would trade him for the world
