What about more natural means of D3 supplementation if needed? Some people feed their iguanas bits of boiled egg, relatively high in vitamin D3 though nowhere near as high as oily fish, and I was wondering if anyone has tried that with their chameleons? The main problems would be getting the chameleon to accept it as food and determining if boiled egg would have any downsides or cause any health problems if nobody has tried it before. The upside would be that it would provide a more natural additive without as much worry of over-supplementation since it is easier to just add a pinch of egg white to a diet list every few days to once a week at most. The main issue would be only to use egg white as that contains no fat yet high protein and plenty of vitamins and calcium.
Chameleons are classified as distant cousins of iguanas so maybe this would be a helpful source of vitamins if they will take it.
