Female Veiled and breeding

Hello everyone,
I am looking to purchase a female veiled chameleon. I have heard (but have not seen through my research) that if u do not breed a female veiled they will die. I am wondering if this is even true? If so when would be the latest time to start breeding?

a female can and will produce infertile eggs even if they are not mated. It can cause them to become eggbound and die if the cham does not lay them. If a female cham has produced an infertile clutch of eggs a laying bin (12" deep container of moist sand/soil...) must be included in her enclosure for her to dig a hole in to bury her eggs. Some steps can be implemented through feeding and temperature to reduce the size of or chances of a female cham producing infertile clutches. A female veiled can become receptive around 6 months of age but should not be bred until at least a year or more.

get a male if you havent had a cham before brighter and dont have the hassle you do with females

I try to keep my females basking temp around 82 but it usually fluctuates a few degrees throughout the day with an ambient temp approx 76 to 78 degrees and around 68 to 72 at night. I also cut back to feeding her a bit less and only every second day in hopes to prevent her from laying large if any infertile clutches.there is some good info at http://raisingkittytheveiledchameleon.blogspot.com/2007/12/keeping-female-veiled.html
