Female Sub Adult Veiled Shed Problem

Thank you for asking. I used two lower wattage bulbs and the temp was still too high. I bought the Flukers single dome with just one 23 watt bulb which got me to 78-80 degrees. It’s all good now! I don’t notice any more dead skin flaking off since I applied neosporin (once). Unfortunately at this rate it may take until her next shed until she has a chance to look all better.

This is a great "real time" thread with pictures and all. Can you take current picture to share, if it doesn't stress her out to much?

This will help so many that have had, do, and will have (cover the full spectrum). (y)

If I come bearing a cricket she practically runs out. No cricket and I get her BACK OFF colors. Let me see if I can snap some good pics.

Here she is today, March 2nd 2021. No problem getting her to walk onto my hand with a cricket but when she realizes she been tricked into a photo shoot she shows her gold spots and stripes. She just really hates my phone.
The dead skin isn’t very noticeable from the left or right side but from above it’s clear to see.

WOW! This is why this sight is so important. The white has color now as it is starting the healing process. Thank you so much.
I have never had first hand experience with thermal burns, but find it interesting as we go along.
Good Job to all-

This pic from Thursday shows the color underneath the dead skin. It’s probably like a bad sunburn except instead of flaking off, the dead skin is stuck to the underlying healthy layer. And I didn’t notice anything was wrong until she shed her skin and this part didn’t come off. Poor little Emmie!

JMHO- Reptiles and amphibians grow quick and heal even quicker if everything is right. So it would be interesting in another 4 weeks or so (might shed again) to have about 30 daily pictures to showing progress. I currently have 9 babies left out of 66 going on 3 months (born Dec 3rd thru 13) and a few are going on their 3rd and 4th shed). I kept all the runts and found homes for the others. Have a few possibly adopted out in the next few weeks. (y)
Thanks again!

Looks much better glad you were open to my feedback and we were able to correct this quickly. A minor burn is much easier to treat than a major one. Looks like it is well on its way to healing.

Guess who started a new shed this morning! I am excited to see if the dead white skin on the ridge of her back sheds off to reveal the beautiful yellow stripe underneath.

Funny you should ask because I just thought of this thread and got Emmy out for another checkup/photo shoot! She is doing very well in her new larger enclosure and the dead skin fell off the area. There is still a white patch but I can tell it’s regaining color week by week.

This is fantastic! It seems like the colors are coming in again too... Plus, she is growing so fast.
Great job! Looks like you will soon be dealing with the egg issue.

Yep she’s getting to be a big girl and I’m getting her lay bin ready! Her colors have become much more vibrant since I switched from the Slimline to the Arcadia compact UVB.

I hope your using a solarmeter 6.5 to check your UVI level with that compact. Even with it being an Arcadia bulb you should never use these without a solarmeter to ensure your getting the correct UVI level.... Too close and overexposure is a risk to far and underexposure is a risk with the development of MBD.

It is why in all forums for chams you will see keepers only recommending T5HO fixtures with the distance to basking specific to the bulb strength used.

Beman as always your advice is much appreciated. I purchased the 24” Arcadia T5HO 6% bulb + fixture and put it atop my 24” x 24” x 48” screen enclosure, 8” from her basking spot as recommend in a prior post by MissSkittles. Do I still need to spend $265.00 (approx) on a Solarmeter 6.5? In your experience does UVI level vary that much from one 6% Arcadia bulb to the next to justify that investment?

March 2nd, March 10th, and March 17th progression in photos... I will try to post another one a week from today to give everyone a good perspective on the healing process.
