Femal Jackson chameleon randomly died today

This morning my Jackson chameleon died. She was doing just fine before, I had her for at least 2 weeks. I have an automatic humidifier to keep them hydrated, a bowl of meal worms always available for her, and a bowl of water too. I am at work right now, but I will send a picture of my set up. There was enough foliage too. I honestly don't know how this happened. She had her eyes closed just about a day or two ago. It makes me was since I don't know what was wrong with her.

Meal worms are horrible and not a recommended staple for a chameleons and drinking from a bowl of water is like drinking from a cesspool of bacteria.. chameleons need to be stimulated into drinking by a dripper or mister a humidifier just doesn't cut it. your Chamaeleon looks very dehydrated in the pictures maybe you should've done some more research before purchasing your chameleon. She looks vary unhealthy from the picture.

I suggest you look at all the care sheets before you get another, if you decide to do so. But im sorry for your loss. Caring for a cham is very specific and takes a lot of research and understanding to be successful at it, so read read read.

Hi, is the water dish was the only source of water she got?
This might be your problem (far before the mealworm but mealworm is still not a awesome sable diet )

What should I feed it then?

Crickets, roaches, silkworms, hornworms, blue bottle flies, black soldier flies, BSFL, superworms, mantids, stick insects... So many options. I really hope this experience teaches you a valuable lesson that you need to ask these questions BEFORE you purchase an extremely sensitive animal. It is our responsibility to keep them healthy and give them good lives and this is not possible without putting the work in first.

chameleon dont drink in a dish this is the reason why your cham is dead (99% or chance) so if your male also got a dish, just remove it now and go straight buy a spray bottle and a dripper

Jackson's require a lot of humidity and drinking opportunities. I don't know how I would manage to take care of mine with out a misting system. I also hand mist, have live plants to hold humidity, use a cool mist humidifier when it's dry in the house and use drippers on occasion. Mine mostly drinks off of the leaves after they have been misted or from the spray of the hand mister.

You chameleon looks really dehydrated. they only drink from water dropes, so a rainsystem, spraying with flower botles, drippers, they need Cool night temperatures around 60 F at night. calcium without D3 on every feeing, dusting ther prey, and vitamin A in oild form once a month, just some dropps, calcium with D3 once a month too, and multivitamins once a month too. losts of plants Uv b day temperatures around 24, 27 in the hotest Point. gutload your insects, search for sandrachameleon she has good gutloading recepies.

Calcium is water soluble, from difference to D3 and A vitamin which stores in their fat, if it is an excess of plain calcium they just pee it out

and they need the calcium to balance out the calciumhosphor ratio which most insects do not have the right amounts

There are different species of chameleons that have different husbandry requirements. Such as a Jackson chameleon they have different needs then say a vailed chameleon.. one of those requirements being that Jackson chameleons are much more sensitive to sumplements.. its basic care needs for a Jackson chameleon to have a supplement schedule of my previous post.

it is irresponsible of you to give out information that is incorrect. You run a risk of giving bad advice that could harm another keepers chameleon.. I'm sure that was not your intent.
I wasn't out of line by asking you to simply know the information your giving out is accurate or leave it to a more experienced keeper.
