Feeding, Every day to every other day?

okay, well hopefully he will calm down a little that be cool if i could interact a little! :) i just had him out for a little while was a little bit of trouble getting him out. He did not want to come close to me at all! After a while he got a little bit better but he still was a little scared going to the other hand.

Should i try to handle him more often, if so how much?
 
If he hates it and it stresses him out too much, I wouldn't attempt it that often. I definitely would try letting him come out of the cage on his own terms and maybe try hand feeding while he is out or in the cage once in awhile. You've only had him a month and that really is not very long at all. Just try and give him some space and don't be too forceful. I know my chameleon did not like being cornered in the cage at all and once I started letting him climb out his whole personality changed. It took me quite awhile before I could approach him in his cage. Some are kinda territorial in their cages.
 
Ill will have to try to let him crawl out on his own then! Did you just leave the door open an he crawled out on his own?

I don't recommend r zilla. A member on the forums did a study on themand I don't believe they are safe. I would use a reptisun linear 5.0 or a linear reptiglo 5.0. Also your chameleon does appear to be 4-5 months old and pretty soon will prolly enter a growth spurt c:

About the behavior I would do as was said and just maybe set up a free range zone for your chameleon. Free ranged chameleon and chameleons that have free range time seem to be more relaxed and more tolerable of handling. Also he might start to realize when you come to get him out of his cage its to put him on his free range. Hand feeding can also help because they start to associate your hand with treats instead of danger.

yep, I just left the door open and he was very skiddish about doing it at first but then slowly but surely he crawled onto the top of the door and just sat there. I started putting my hand underneath his chin and lifting him up off the door and it just became routine. I would always take him to a free range area I have set up on my patio for him so i think he associated me picking him up with that. If you can get him out, try gently and slowly approaching him and then maybe setting him on a plant outside of the cage. Now I can just reach right in my cage and do what ever. Clean the cage, pick him up, he never even flinches.
 
Really i did not know that about that lights. That kinda sucks cuz they are kinda expensive! What will they do so chameleons? Ill have to try the free range soon i know some people that i can get some big plants from that he could climb around on! do you just let him go free and just keep an eye on him?

Which RZilla UVB do you have? Some of them are no good and are harmful to chameleons. You do not need two either. Just one 5.0 and a basking light. A regular 40 watt housebulb will do. If the humidifier is causing water to drip into the cage and he has access to it then you probably do not need the dripper. Is the drip where he can drink like on a leaf or branch or something? I mean it surely couldn't hurt to set up the dripper.
 
Ill have to just leave the door open when im around and get some plants! I caint have any plants outside right now because i live in Moorhead, mn and 10 degrees out with 2ft of snow!:( But ill set one up in the house and see how it goes!
 
The r zilla t8 bulb had caused a lot of eye problems and I BELIEVE caused some kind of skin problem. It's been awhile since I read what he posted.
 
I am not saying that yours are bad for sure. There was a certain type that was being sold and there was a problem with them and they were causing health issues. They supposedly rectified the problem but there were still tons of them that were stocked in pet stores and still being sold. I will try and find the thread for you so you can read about them. Hopefully that is not what you have. How long is your UVB? I have a cage that is 30 X 36 X 18 and I have one UVB on the top. that is all you need. My light is almost 30 inches long, the width of the cage..

Since the Tropical 50 was able to actually kill chameleons in less than a couple of days, I'd say that the tropical 25 would take twice as long to kill a chameleon :(. I know there is a T5 and a T8 and there was a desert series(you have the tropical series)T5 that was bad. Let me do a little research here. I don't want to steer you the wrong way and spend money for nothing. You may have one of the newer ones but the problem was old stock is still out there I guess and those were the bulbs with the problems. Most of use the Reptisun 5.0 tube and never ever have any problems with these bulbs.

I will check what type it is next time im in the store. Mine is 20 inches long and my cage is 24x24x36. If it is good to go then ill take one of and just have it across the the whole cage?

Okay ill read that, thanks a lot for your guys help!

You think i could put a repti sun bulb in the r-zilla strip? then i could save a little, if it would fit.
 
sure why not? Hopefully it will fit like you said. I mean, it is really up to you to change out the bulb or not. Read the thread and the attached link for the article and make your decision after that.

Thats normally the out come haha when I first started I went back three times to. Return the stuff they had me buy because it was wrong
