Wow! That's a buttload of silkies!
Hey max, remember I told you they are not just good for Cham food but are fantastic fish bait!!! When I am catching fish and others close by are not and ask what I am using I just smile and say a little of this and a little of that
I know that's mean isn't it![]()
A dedicated chameleon keeper turns into a bug keeper real quick! I, too, have seven types of feeders either kept or in some form of breeding! And you know how you sometimes sit back with your very patient significant other and dream of the chameleons you will have? Well, I also dream of the feeders I will keep. Of course, my very-experienced-with-chameleon-keepers wife immediately knows what to ask.
A recent conversation for your listening pleasure...
Me: I think I'll start a colony of Panchlora nivea
Wife in cautious tone: What are those?
Me: Some really cool green roaches..ummm, I mean "forest beetles"
Not-to-be-fooled Wife: riiight. Do they climb glass? Do they fly? Can they breed if they get out?
Me: Yes. kind of. No.
Usually Patient Wife: Back-up Buddy! what do you mean "kind of" fly?!?!?! No way in H,E,double hockey sticks are you going to bring flying roaches into this house!!!
Me: But they are green!!! How cool is that! The chameleons will love them! They only fly at night!
The amusing part is that I actually think greenness, coolness, chameleon tastes, or flight times will actually change her view of roach apocalypse descending upon her from above while she sleeps. <sigh> oh well, I am sure she'll warm up to the idea in time
I love this hobby!
LOL,sounds just like some of the conversations I've had with my wife!!! I just don't understand why she doesn't seem excited when I come running in from the garage/Cham/bug room and tell her Honey we have baby Dubia or Honey the pinheads are hatching by the 1000's. I won't quote her but when she realized the Dubia were roaches....... Well it was not nice as you see I forgot I had described them to her as pill bugs but when she saw them she was not fooled a bitA dedicated chameleon keeper turns into a bug keeper real quick! Steve,, looks like you're missing mantids!!!!!
I planted mublerry trees 3 years ago for the purpose of breeding silkies. Still havn't gotten around to aquiring the worms yet, though. I find raising feeders to be pretty fun. Maybe it's because I like insects and free stuff.![]()
