Crickets, dubia, mealworms, super worms, silks, hornworms and butter worms. Not sure what will be next lol

That is a ton of feeders. I used to get out of control when I had my guest room set up as a bug room. Now I have a small closet in the chameleon room and no constant warm temps 24/7 :(

It would have been a lot more but seems a virus is turning many to mush I have lost about 400 recently and I am aware of several others who have also lost a bunch. Bummer!!!
Silks that is!!!

Wow! That's a buttload of silkies!

Hey max, remember I told you they are not just good for Cham food but are fantastic fish bait!!! When I am catching fish and others close by are not and ask what I am using I just smile and say a little of this and a little of that :D
I know that's mean isn't it

Muahahahahahahahaha!!! Very nice! I've also read that butters are superior fish bait! Something about that sweet smell?? Any luck with butters??

A dedicated chameleon keeper turns into a bug keeper real quick! I, too, have seven types of feeders either kept or in some form of breeding! And you know how you sometimes sit back with your very patient significant other and dream of the chameleons you will have? Well, I also dream of the feeders I will keep. Of course, my very-experienced-with-chameleon-keepers wife immediately knows what to ask.
A recent conversation for your listening pleasure...

Me: I think I'll start a colony of Panchlora nivea
Wife in cautious tone: What are those?
Me: Some really cool green roaches..ummm, I mean "forest beetles"
Not-to-be-fooled Wife: riiight. Do they climb glass? Do they fly? Can they breed if they get out?
Me: Yes. kind of. No.
Usually Patient Wife: Back-up Buddy! what do you mean "kind of" fly?!?!?! No way in H,E,double hockey sticks are you going to bring flying roaches into this house!!!
Me: But they are green!!! How cool is that! The chameleons will love them! They only fly at night!

The amusing part is that I actually think greenness, coolness, chameleon tastes, or flight times will actually change her view of roach apocalypse descending upon her from above while she sleeps. <sigh> oh well, I am sure she'll warm up to the idea in time :)

I love this hobby!

LOL,sounds just like some of the conversations I've had with my wife!!! I just don't understand why she doesn't seem excited when I come running in from the garage/Cham/bug room and tell her Honey we have baby Dubia or Honey the pinheads are hatching by the 1000's. I won't quote her but when she realized the Dubia were roaches....... Well it was not nice as you see I forgot I had described them to her as pill bugs but when she saw them she was not fooled a bit

whats the world coming to right?
Did you ever think before reptiles you would be raising, feeding, breeding insects?
Just wait...You will be hatching flies, mantids, all kinds of roaches, running around fields catching bugs, waiting till night to go catch moths by the porch light, yelling STOOPPP dont smash that bug " i could use that", friends calling you cause they found a swarm of katydids, the list keeps going for bugs...And does the totes and food bills do too :)

Steve,, looks like you're missing mantids!!!!!

Yes I know D.. (Darn it) you guys just had to go there didn't you,you are like drug dealers tempting an addict, now I know whats next, guess I got to start reading up on these guys now!!! Im telling my wife you all made me do it :D:D
Just about any excuse will do for me. Lisa you know why I am doing this now so I can feed all the little chams I hope to have down the road. I have picked out the next 3 types of cham I am getting for breeding but I won't tell...at least not yet. :D I am looking foreward to playing guess what I have comming soon as I have enjoyed it when others have done it. It is like you are getting it with them!!!

I planted mublerry trees 3 years ago for the purpose of breeding silkies. Still havn't gotten around to aquiring the worms yet, though. I find raising feeders to be pretty fun. Maybe it's because I like insects and free stuff. :p

For me it is a challenge to see if I can raise the feeders but mostly that I hope to have all the food for my futere babies and want to save $$$ also:)
