Fall weather, and outdoor basking

So, here I sit wondering if it's okay to take Smeagie outside for sun.
It's about 65F right now, at 9am, but the sun is coming out.

In an hour it will likely be alot warmer.

For those who take their chams outside, and live on the East coast, how low a temp is acceptible for a veiled cham??

If he is in the sun, that should keep him warm, right??

I would like to take advantage of the sunshine whenever I can. Sometimes we have warm sun even in Nov and Dec.

My vet said it was okay to take Phineas out whenever the temps were above 50, but he is a panther. My vet did raise veileds when he was young and I'll bet he would say the same for them also. I took Phineas out last year down to 50 and he never complained!

IMO any amount of sunshine is beneficial our temps are nothing like the temps over the pond. Popeye certainly doesn't feel warm when he comes in neither does he change to happy colours but I don't think it does him any harm. I certainly feel better by having an hour in the sun no matter how high or low the temp is.

i live in west Tennessee and i take my veiled and panther out at 73ish temps as long as the sun is good and strong, not on a cloudy day. they seem to enjoy the basking in the sun when its not real hot.

I would say when it is over 70 put him outside, otherwise I think it is better for him to be in his cage so he can get nice and warm and digest foods.

Veileds in my experience like it up to 10 degrees + warmer

Also some chameleons don't benefit from being moved everyday. (emphasis on some)

Some chameleons do fine moving from their regular cage to outside but some stress out bad and it can affect their health (just my opinion).

Fall is my favorite time of year. Its still bright and sunny but not so darn hot. My guys have been outside every single day this week soaking it up. Its chilly in the morning but it has been nice and sunny everyday.

Im also taking babies right out of hatching container straight outside all week. Get it in while we can.

I take em out in the upper 60's and I do bring them in as my nights are nearing lower 40's.

That is a good point, stress!!
Smeagol and Noogie are both adults and have no problems with being transfred into smaller cages for outdoor sun, in fact, they recognize the small cage and get ready. Smeagol has literaly jumped into the little cage as soon as I open the door.
My baby ambilobe, Squee, is a different story.
I need to take him outside w/o having to disturb him, and his cage is medium sized, not a problem to carry outside only a few feet to a small table on my front porch.

I prefer Spring myself, but Fall has Halloween!! :D

Same in MD, cool in the mornings, between 50 and 60F but warms up by about 9am. So I wait till then.
So far my rule of thumb has been, if the sunshine is strong with no overcast, even 60F is fine, as long as there is no cold winds.
