"Eye'm ready....even if my eyelid isn't"

The eyes are functional. He/she actually had them open while squirming around, trying to get out of the shell. I didn't even notice the transparent area until looking at the pics on the computer. It seems that pigmentation of the eyelids may be one of the last developmental steps before the babies hatch. I've also taken inadvertant photos of a hatching weidersheimi with unfinished eyelids before.
 
Wow this is a really good picture. The transparent part of th eye is so interesting. I have never seen this before
