Hi everyone,
My 6 month old female veiled chameleon has been shedding extremely slowly for the past 4-5 days, and she still isn't finished. She started with her head, and that alone took 2 days, and now her body is shedding but it's still only about halfway done.
She is extremely grumpy and lazy. She seems fat. She doesn't move much throughout the day, she just sits on a log. I've still never seen her drink, even though I mist her all the time, and even more often since she's been shedding. She puffs up and hisses at me anytime I come into her cage to do anything, even give her food.
Lately she's been showing a new coloration when she's just sitting in her cage. Whenever I check on her she'll be really dark green, not far from black, with fluorescent bright green spots.
Could she be pregnant? And as for the slow shedding, is this normal as they begin to get older? I'm a novice chameleon owner but my panther of similar age shed his entire skin in less than 12 hours...but he's also much more active and so I imagine that helps the skin come off quicker. The only possible cause I could think of would be that she doesn't get enough water because she simply doesn't drink it off the golden pothos leaves in her enclosure.
What do you guys think?
