Escape-proof feeder for roaches? Crickets?

Our veiled is in a lg., open enclosure that allows crickets and roaches to escape (fun). We just tried another feeding dish with a small rim to prevent escape and the roach was able to get out pretty quickly. We put the crickets in a taller tub but occasionally a particularly athletic cricket will escape. Any ideas?

So your cage is going to make it more difficult buying a feeder run for that we all typically use. I would just use the taller tub that you toss the crickets into.

Wait why? The birdcage they have? Why would that make the feeder run harder?

OP you can make or buy a feeder run. Out of a milk jug, the chameleon shooting gallery or something. Full throttle feeders sells a ABS Pipe one, you can also make that.

He is even using a Hardware Cloth cage in the Video.

As far as ones we buy for screen cages... the shooting gallery feeder and full throttle feeder would not work because they have to attach to screen. One with pins and one with a magnet... If the cham is already used to eating from the tub then no biggie tossing the roaches in there.

Here is a picture of one I made out of abs pipe. I have 1/4" hardware cloth enclosure and it works well.

This is very cool. But, can you describe what you've done a bit more (new owner, the whole "shooting gallery" thing, etc. is totally new). So the roaches can crawl up the cloth and not the ABS pipe? It seems like grasshoppers could still jump out...

Here is a link to the shooting gallery https://tkchameleons.com/products/shooting-gallery but if you use it on the hardware cloth and not screen the feeders will escape thru the cloth. You could ask them to make one with a screen backing.
True, usually feeders small enough to escape through the mesh will not be able to escape from the feeder. Best when used with larger insects to be completely confident of no escape possibility.

I'm trying to understand how you've constructed your shooting gallery. Warning: I am not a DIY-er (obviously) and am also new cham owner - never heard of a shooting gallery before now and have never seen one. Is that "hardware cloth" attached to the pipe in back ? Or is the pipe open in back so that there is only the cloth between the feeders and the cage mesh? How is that the roaches can't escape - pipe too slippery? (Wish you had a shop around the corner and I could just order one from you!) Re: the tkchameleon product...are you saying that hardware cloth or a screen will need to be attached to the back of it? Also wondering how it would attach to our cage (see pic). Want to make sure roaches and crickets cannot escape.

I just use a mason jar. The crickets can't jump past the lip. But my chams have been feeding this way since I had them 1 year. So if it is in the dish and it so much as twitches, it is food.

Well if you are not handy with a saw and other tools then I would take a look at the link jackstill gave you above. I also think that full throttle feeders offer a feeder like the one I made. Anything that can jump or fly can escape eventually. WWW.fullthrottlefeeders.com.

I got to agree with this, the best feeder I have used is a simple plastic cup. They escape from everything else, and chams have no problem eating from the cup.
