Keep your chin up! You are doing the best you can and if he does not make it atleast you gave it your best shot. It is maddening how people can treat animals. I will never understand it. I have been on the forum for three years now and have seen some heartbreaking stories on here. Some of the chameleons have been literally tortured. Not intentionally, but by lack of knowledge and research. I took in a Sambava a year ago this month. He was acquired by another forum member who was moving out of town. When I went to get him he was in a nice big cage, but one dying plant with a few leaves and a few sticks to climb on. Being fed only crickets and the crickets were fed some flukers crap. I live in Fla and the sad thing is, the owner never took him out in the sun! When I got him he was dull green and had a bad case of gular edema. The edema still comes and goes and I have tried just about everything to rid him of it but to no avail. Anyways, his colors are not as vibrant as many of the chameleons on here but he looks a thousand times better. He turned 4 yrs old in Dec. I am giving him a great life and he enjoys most of his days outside in the Fla sunshine. All you can do is provide the best possible care, but unfortunately sometimes it is not enough due to the way the chameleon was treated before you got him.
