I have a 5 month female veiled. How big should my egg laying sand pit be? And how old before they start laying eggs?

I'm so glad you are preparing for this in advance. There's some calculation for size, but I don't remember it. I think it's 1 1/2 times her length (including tail) in both directions, but might well be wrong. It needs to be pretty deep. I've seen people say everything from 8 to 12 inches. I would say it's better to err on the side of bigger rather than smaller.
From what I understand, 5 months would be young, but when it happens depends on a lot of things and I've seen people say their 6 month old was gravid, so, like I said, best to be prepared!

dont breed her till she at least 10 months old. i did a mistake and bred mine now when she 8 months old and its not as safe as it would be if she was older and bigger

I have no intention of breeding her. Not enough time and money to purchase a male. Thanks for the advice. Also, what is the ratio of sand to soil?

Some people use 50/50, some people use straight sand. You might need to play with it a bit to see what can hold a tunnel best while retaining moisture.
