Yea that's the plan... I want a self sustaining colony ASAP... I already have a 50 gallon opaque tote with a vent on one side of the lid and a black light basking light on the other side for heat. Should receive them tomorrow... want to get the colony rolling for my baby nosy be that I should be getting shipped around Oct 1st... hopefully before then! Lol that's a long wait for me

I read somewhere that red night color is the best bulb for providing heat/light? The above talks about using black light. What is the difference between them, if any?
Has anyone ever had more success with one light vs the other?

I'm guessing it wont matter too much as they are cockroaches after all.

Mine seem more active with the black light over the red light. I think a heat mat is best, but I had these bulbs laying around, so why not?

I usually buy mine at reptile shows on Sundays towards the end when you can barter the most. Sometimes they will throw in an extra tub or two if you buy enough.
