Short answer- ask a vet! I have stories I can tell of people dosing their pets with meds only to end up killing them.

Other short answer- might be worth checking Linda Davison's book, she covers stuff like that. Might be in there. I can check when I get home if I remember (fair warning: I am extremely forgetful- its nothing personal. If I forget and you are still interested PM me to remind me.)

How do you know the panache will kill the parasites your chameleon has....or for that matter how do you know it has parasites in the first place?

im not saying they have or dont have parasites,,(((somewhere i read or someone told me that u need to do this every once in a while dont remember where)))i haven't done this thats why im asking,,,,,""if im wrong EXCUSE ME ,,thats why im asking so i can learn more about this issue""

I would only give medicine if there is a real health issue and I have consulted a vet. Other that calcium or vitamins, please don't use it as a self experiment. Always consult a vet with these things as Chams have a too sensitive body, which is not that forgiving (like a mammal) to external input.

What was said was not attacking you.

Where you read this or heard this from is 100% incorrect. This does not need to be done just out of good husbandry practices. There are many different types of parasites that require a specific drug, dosing, regimen to kill them. Just an example if your cham would happen to have coccidia. Panacur would do absolutely nothing. If you think you cham has parasites. Its best to take a fresh stool in for analysis.

Panacur also comes in different strengths.

Deworming can be very hard on an animal. I would never just give them a dose "in case". Ulrich mentions mammals being forgiving, but the one time I had to deworm my chihuahua (the vet did it) she was shaking and lethargic for a whole day.

ditto what everyone else said about consulting a vet

once / if some problem is identified, a vet can then help you determine what medicine or other treatment is appropriate.

The dosage of panacur is based on animal weight. Also depends on dilution/concentration of crystals/paste or whatever. It is my understanding that horse panacur dewormer is quite concentrated (not suprising, since they are a big animal) and that it doesn't dilute as easy/consistently into solutions

Another important thing to consider is if you under dose there is a chance of actually creating a resistance to the deworming medication used in the parasite population that survives the insufficient treatment!

Might want to start a new thread for this.

agreed!

keep it moist. go to local chemist / pharmacy / drug store and get KY or even the corner gas station store might have it. Its only like $10.

do not use vaseline

Sucrose / sugar water might help reduce swelling. Which may allow it to get back in easier.

But if it is not reinserted in short order, a vet is absolutely necessary. Borrow the money, get a loan, a payment plan for the vet.... Or allow a reptile rescue to take him.
