Lately on this forum there has been a lot of rudeness and bad behaviour and lack of civility and I'm more than a little disappointed in it. This forum is beginning to sound like some of the others that I won't belong to. If someone disagrees with you, has a different point of view, etc there is no reason to be outright rude. It's one thing to say....you're wrong...I don't agree with you...you're not telling the truth...you're misinformed...etc. and debate it in a civil manner that might lead to learning and understanding each other...but it's totally another to be rude and attack each other IMHO. Isn't it time to quit behaving like little children and sort it out like adults? Or maybe it's too late? I would have liked to have seen it stopped.

As of late, I find myself coming to the forums less and less. I'd rather not deal with all of the nonsense. There's already enough nonsense going on in my life.

I feel for the monitors. They are likely donating their time and should not have to Spend time baby sitting .

Yes, absolutely agree. I had been avidly visiting the forum several times daily. Now I pop in and briefly lurk once or twice a week. The atmosphere has become too negative and toxic.
I agree that lately there have been too many instances of rude behavior and threads ending poorly. I don't think it's too late to resolve but the issue is becoming a serious problem that needs to be addressed. We've seen this growing over time and it's really my fault for letting it get to this point. I want to thank everyone for sticking with us and hope that we can work together to make Chameleon Forums a better environment for both current and future members.
I believe one contributing factor to the problem is a lack of moderation. We need additional staff members. Giving a few respected members the ability to moderate issues they discover during their normal forum activity could be very helpful. We reached out to the community last fall for suggestions and plan to refocus on those efforts. If anyone wants to privately suggest a member or themselves feel free to contact me. We're looking for mature, active and established members.

Definitely not the first time, there's been threads just like kinyonga's this in the past(no offense, all for good reason). However I agree, how about we all chill out and start on a better foot. I'm sure you're all stressed out for one reason or another and so am i. I have no bad feelings towards anyone.

Just my opinion but from what I have seen 95% of the problem is Petr’s arrogant way of stating things. Also, he is very quick to insult others and call names when his wisdom is questioned.
It’s only in threads that involve him that there is a problem, and from what I have seen it goes south because he can’t handle being questioned about his findings.

So, no unfortunately it isn’t just in Petr’s threads. Yes, his style is at times arrogant and can come across as all-knowing. Part of this is likely due to language, but I am not making an excuse. It is healthy to question those who make claims and offer new explanations or theories. It is not OK to do so in a way that crosses the line into rude attacks or arguing.
This site is for chameleon keepers and all have a voice. Just make your voice heard in a productive and positive way. Also, remember the voice of those who don’t post here but come to learn and enjoy the site as a resource.
We are not FaceBook and don’t want to be. When the drama from the social media sites winds up here on the forums it is depressing.

Thank you @kinyonga. I agree completely. Unfortunately I only had time to lock a thread yesterday while managing the current COVID crisis in how it is disrupting everything around me. I would like to encourage the mainly three people that the drama always seems to swirl around to reconsider their actions and their roles here as this kind of behavior can't go on without ruining the awesome community and wealth of information that exists here.

What one has to realize in life, when you're at the top, such as petr in this case, your actions get excused more. He's earned the right because he's helped a lot of us out, the entire community. And maybe it is a language thing and he doesn't intend it. I do think that a lot of this drama lately has been started by him and continued by a few of us here. Doesn't take a genius to see that, what does it matter though, guilt to go around.
@ferretinmyshoes , my wife's working with the sick in the hospital. I don't have work ATM, and I have 2 babies, one that we're running out of formula for. My patience for people being rude is thin, and it'd be smart for me to let it go and not take it out on anyone here. So, it is disrupting stuff for more people than just you. Try to understand that.
I didn't erupt at all yesterday, I'm guilty for the day before and I apologize about that. My name was dragged up time and time again after I let it go and still remained silent.

Unfortunately, English is only 5th language if mine and I have never lived in a country where it is the mother’s tongue... So, I do not allow myself to candy coat my messages as otherwise they would not be understandable. I am a straightforward person. I am very sad that it comes accross as rude: I am simply direct and black and white.
The many typos I do are due to several eye surgeries I had to undergo and so I do not see properly the tiny letters in the layout of CF. I am sorry for that, believe me it sucks more to type it than to read.
When too many fingers point in one direction, then in a community one should take this serioisly, so

So, I make it very easy for you to prove: after 11 years of loyal membership and help on many levels directly and indirectly, i am leaving and will not take active part in the discussions. I have enough of the poison that was behind my back and into the face spit on me by some of the very vocal people here. Is it really the culture of CF to allow personal invectives such as blabla and broken english and hahaha this message cannot be from him as there are no typos etc etc? This is not funny.
The only reason that would keep me here would be if I would be given the opportunity to act as an admin (for which I volunteer) and lead a team of specialists to finally update the outdated, mistakeful, misleading and inconsistent care sheets (to which I volunteer too).
IMHO, CF gets lost in the vision/mission consistency and governance nowadays. But I am maybe not the one that you would like to listen to and give the trust to do what I suggest...
well, still consider it: I have a good track-record to have built or consolidated it in many organizations that even outnumber CF both in membership base and internationalism and not only (but also) in this industry...
The world is now in need. It gets stuck by the viral pandemia and we almost were destroyed by asteroids just some hour ago.

I just recently joined and I had read numerous threads that made me second guess being on this forum. If it weren't for the fact that I already have reptiles and and overly familiar with proper husbandry I would've definitely found another place for information. I don't think it's any place for anyone to rude and dismissive to anyone seeking help no matter your experience especially if people are seeking knowledge to better their chams life.

So, I have to say that in my short time on this forum that I have witnessed a great deal of people making those comments and I don't get how people can be cruel. I don't even know you and I understood that there may have been an underlying issue to your health that was a factor to your messages.
